Guidelines Artist in Residence – New Media 2017-2018
Digital Art Center in memory of Juan Downey announces the call Residency New Media, specially formulated for visual artists working with digital media and technology. The AIR consists in a two week stay at CADJD, Puerto Varas, Chile. Its provides time and space to develop new media projects or investigations. Includes accommodation, studio, utilities and transportation Santiago – Pto.Varas – Santiago. National and international artists in different stages of development are invited to participate; except for residents of the Region of Los Lagos, Chile. The are two grants available for highlighted projects that apply. Other artist are required to finance 50% of the cost, 260.000 chilean pesos or 650.00 US dollars for international applicants year 2017-2018.
This residence is focused on visual artists who use different technologies; Including video art, medial installation, web art, sound art, digital engraving, 3D animation, interactive media, programming, digital communities, digital painting, software, apps, interconnected projects, sculptures www, projects self-generative, performance and radio-image , among other.

Methodology of the Residence
This AIR offers time and space to research and produce work of visual arts and new media for two weeks in Puerto Varas, at Centro de Arte Digital en Memoria de Juan Downey. Culminating in an activity with the community. Artists have 24 hour access to a studio located in CADJD; along with bus transportation from Santiago, housing, utilities and half board, the value is 600 US Dollars. Materials and other expenses are not included. CADJD extends an invitation to be used for application for funding by external grants.
The resident artists are invited to use new media and experimental technologies to produce new work.
Financing
The are two grants available for highlighted projects that apply. Other artist are required to finance 50% of the cost, 260.000 chilean pesos or 650.00 US dollars for international applicants year 2017-2018. Includes accommodation, utilities, 24 hrs studio, transportation Santiago – Puerto Varas – Santiago. Artists are responsible for materials and extra expenses. It is suggested to apply for additional funding opportunities. A letter of invitation will be extended to those selected for this purpose.
Selection Committee
Applications will be reviewed by a curatorial committee composed of three cultural agents, their names will be revealed once published the results. Any circumstance beyond the rules will be resolved by the selection committee and its decision is final. There is signed agreement of responsibilities that both parties must comply.
